Trauma Can Feel All-Consuming and Isolating

Trauma doesn’t just live in the past—it finds its way into the present, shaping how you see yourself, others, and the world around you. It might show up as flashbacks that seem to hijack your mind, an overwhelming sense of fear or hypervigilance, or a numbness that makes connecting with yourself and others feel impossible. Trauma can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected, and uncertain about how to move forward.

Healing from trauma is no small feat, and trying to do it alone can feel exhausting. Whether you’ve experienced a single traumatic event or complex layers of pain over time, the impacts can ripple through every area of your life—your relationships, work, and even your sense of safety.

Therapy Can Help You Reclaim Your Life

Trauma therapy isn’t about erasing the past; it’s about helping you regain control, rebuild trust in yourself, and create a life that feels safe and fulfilling. Together, we’ll work to understand your unique experiences, identify the triggers that hold you back, and gently challenge the thoughts and patterns keeping you in survival mode.

With time, care, and the right tools, you can learn to process what happened to you, reduce the hold it has on your present, and reconnect with a sense of peace and purpose. Healing is possible—and you don’t have to do it alone.

What is Trauma?

Trauma is an emotional and psychological response to events or circumstances that are deeply distressing, overwhelming, or disruptive. While trauma is often associated with life-threatening events such as accidents, abuse, or natural disasters, it can also result from significant life changes or ongoing challenges. Experiences like divorce, moving to a new place, bullying, or the loss of a job can also be traumatic, especially when they undermine a person’s sense of stability, safety, or self-worth.

Trauma isn’t defined solely by the event itself but by how an individual perceives and processes the experience. What feels manageable to one person may feel deeply overwhelming to another, depending on factors like past experiences, support systems, and personal resilience.

Trauma can manifest as emotional symptoms like anxiety, sadness, or anger; physical symptoms like fatigue or headaches; or behavioral changes like withdrawal or difficulty trusting others.

Recognizing trauma in all its forms is key to healing. Whether it stems from major life events or ongoing stressors, processing trauma in a safe and supportive environment can restore a sense of control, safety, and connection.

What is Trauma

My Approach to Trauma Therapy

Psychology Session

Trauma can feel overwhelming, leaving you stuck in painful memories or triggering emotions that seem impossible to escape. My approach to trauma therapy focuses on helping you process those experiences in a safe and supportive environment, allowing you to heal and regain a sense of control in your life.

I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as the foundation of my trauma work. EMDR is an evidence-based approach that helps you reprocess traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional intensity and hold over your present. By engaging your brain’s natural healing processes, EMDR allows you to move past the pain of what happened without needing to relive it repeatedly.

In our work together, we’ll identify the specific memories, triggers, or feelings that are holding you back and use EMDR to address them. This method works gently and effectively to help you build resilience, improve your emotional well-being, and reconnect with a sense of safety and peace.

Healing from trauma is possible. With EMDR, you can move beyond survival mode, find relief from distressing symptoms, and start creating a future that feels whole and fulfilling. I’m here to walk with you every step of the way.

Therapy is a reminder that you don’t have to do it all on your own.
